Mangalore, Dec.19: Demanding to minimum wages , free site BPL ration card and identity card, the labours working at central market staged massive protest in front of main gate of central market on Thursday Dec.19.
Speaking on the occasion Sunil Kumar Bajal the honorary president of CITUsaid that there were hundreds of labours working at central market. They get wages only for the onus they fill in a sack. Other than this they do not get any facilities and also social protection also not there.
He further said that there is no limit in the weight of sack. Sometimes it will be 120 kg’s. It will be very tough to the labours to carry the sack. The International Labour Organization already gave order that the weight of the sacks should be only 55 not more than that, then also the labours were treated inhuman way.
The CITU members demanded minimum wages, free homes, BPL ration card and identity card. They also demanded for the construction of the Shramika Bhvan. And to fix the weight of the sack to 55 kg.
They also said that the labour class people should get protection from inhuman behaviours and harassment.
P. Manikya President, chief secretary Abdul Salam Maripalla, treasurer Mannan Kallapu , vice president Chandrahas Ullal, Ismail, Apsali Saik, Muneer, Kabir Bengre, Samir were took part in the protest.
