Giant branch of tree collapsed on School children-  A boy in critical state.

Bantwal, September 26:  A tragic incident occurred at Netrakere School where one student lost his right hand when a huge branch of a tree fell collapsed on September 25th.

The injured child is identified as Hasanbba (11) son of Abdul Lateef a resident of Kodman. In this incident, two other students Yathish and Naseema were also injured.

The branch of the Peepal tree which is worshipped by everyone turned dangerous for these students.
The incident occurred at Nethrakere School under the Tumbe gram panchayat limits.

Post lunch, students were studying for the exam. Soon after the branch fell, all the students fled the spot. But three students were trapped. The branch has damaged the Wall constructed by Dharmasthala Gramabhivridhi Yojane. Nearby houses were also damaged due to this incident.

Naseema suffered head injuries and the branch fell on back of Yathish. Both were rushed to hospital.

None observed Hasanabba who was struck under the branch. Sometime later, people saw his broken hand and then they removed him and was taken to Tumbe hospital. After first-aid he was taken to Mangalore hospital. The doctors amputated his right hand which was completely damaged in the incident.

He hails from a poor family. His father Lateef works for daily wages. His mother Mumtaz is a beedi(country-made cigar) worker. They have three children.

Hasanabba was good in studies as well as in extra-curricular activities. He was also good in painting. The incident has made him lose his right hand. They have sought help of those generous hands to come forward for his treatment.

District in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai, Health minister U T Khader have assured of help to the poor family.

Ummar Farooq-District panchayat member, Mohammad Valavoor- Tumbe Gram panchayat president, Purusha Salian- former taluk panchayath member and many others have visited the family to pacify them.
