London: The threat of marriages hitting rock bottom in 10 years time is fairly real, says a study, adding that if a couple can stay together for another five years, the missing romance may rekindle again.
For the study, lead researcher Spencer James from the Brigham Young University in the US collected data from over 2,000 women.
The data, collected from women born between 1957 and 1964, revealed that 66 percent of marriages started on a happy note but ran into trouble over time, Express.co.uk reported.
“Conflict increases over the first decade of marriage, perhaps due to unresolved and potentially unresolvable issues,” James was quoted as saying. The findings showed that in 10 years, trouble sets in firmly with women becoming disillusioned with balancing household work and child care.
The study appeared in the Social Science Research Journal.
