Bangalore(DHNS): Says Gonal Bhimappa is honest; YSV Datta supports govt decision
Contrary views in the JD(S) on the rejection of the KPSC list by the government continued to be aired on Saturday too.
While JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy continued with his protest in support of the selected candidates, Y S V Datta, his fellow partyman and MLA, supported the Siddaramaiah government decision to reject the selection. At the same time, JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda claimed that he was ‘unaware’ about Kumaraswamy joining the protest, but defended his son’s stance on the issue.
At Ankola in Uttara Kannada district, Datta said that he welcomed the government decision to conduct fresh examinations. “There is no politics in this. Those who believe that they have been wronged by the government decision can go to court and fight it out,” he said.
However, he claimed that his opinion was purely personal and not that of the JD(S). He said that he will eventually abide by the party decision. On Kumaraswamy’s decision to join the protest, Datta defended his leader. Datta said that it is in the nature of the former chief minister to stand by those who have been wronged.
In Bangalore, Deve Gowda alleged that there was a political conspiracy behind the cancellation of the notification calling for applications for the posts of gazetted probationers.
“Till date, no chief minister has withdrawn a notification calling for the appointment of gazetted probationers. I have been following the KPSC issue closely. I know that there is a disagreement between Siddaramaiah and Law Minister T B Jayachandra on the issue,” he said.
Gowda agreed with Kumaraswamy’s view on Gonal Bhimappa and said that the former KPSC chairman was an honest man. “Those who claim that Bhimappa is a corrupt man can visit his house. I know Bhimappa for 25 years, he is an honest man,” he said.
On his reported meeting with his sons Kumaraswamy and H D Revanna, where they asked him to retire from active politics, the former prime minister denied there was any such meeting.
HDK denied appointment
Kumaraswamy claimed that, on Saturday, he tried to seek an appointment with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to discuss the KPSC issue.
However, the chief minister’s office refused to accept the formal letter seeking an appointment for Sunday, the JD(S) said.
