The main accused in the Fraser Town rape case , Hyder Nasir (28), is a habitual offender involved in similar offences in the Cubbon Park and R.T. Nagar police limits.
Nasir, the younger son of Sheikh Bahadur, a local Bahujan Samajwadi party leader from Lingarajapuram, has a used-car business and also dabbles in real estate. “Using his financial clout and the political affiliations of his father, Nasir threw his weight around. He was always surrounded by his friends and associates,” the police said.
According to the police, the accused moved around the city on jolly rides, especially at night, looking for easy prey. “On Thursday, the accused spotted the victim sitting in the car in front of her apartment and attacked her,” police said.
