Shimoga: Geetha Shivrajkumar on Saturday said she would continue to remain in politics despite her defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from the Shimoga constituency.
Speaking to media persons, she said she was not disturbed by the defeat in the polls. “I have made up my mind to be active in politics in the future.
As promised, I will stay in Shimoga to strengthen the party in the district. I have considered the failure as a stepping stone to success. I thank the voters and the party activists for backing me in the polls.”
Referring to the Lok Sabha polls, she said: “The overwhelming response from people during the campaign meetings in the constituency have increased my confidence level. However, the support did not transform into votes. But, I have not lost hope at all. I will try to be the voice of the people in the coming days. The victory margin has disappointed me a bit and I really don’t know the reasons for it,” she added.
Replying to a query on her role in the party, she said she would do the works assigned by the party leaders promptly.
Sorab MLA Madhu Bangarappa, actor Shivrajkumar and district JD(S) unit president M Srikanth were present on the occasion.
