ashaBangalore, August 27;  Taking umbrage at the State Government’s “callous attitude”, the 35,000 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers across Karnataka have threatened to stop work unless their demands were fulfilled within a month.

The workers, who came together at a State-level convention organised by the Karnataka State Samyukta ASHA Workers’ Association in the city on Monday, poured out their woes in front of freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy and other eminent personalities at the convention.

Association general secretary D. Nagalakshmi said a majority of ASHA workers had not been paid since March. “There is a lot of harassment by the ANMs and staff at the primary health centres to release the meagre performance-based incentives that we are supposed to get,” she said.
