Foundation stone laid for the new community hall

Mangalore, September 1: On Sunday, August 31st, 2014 at 8.30 a.m, foundation stone was laid for the new community hall at Vamanjoor.

While laying the Foundation stone for the new community hall at Vamanjoor, Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel, M.P of Dakshina Kannada district, said that  “Vamanjoor Church Community Hall Is The Need Of The Society”.

Rev. Fr. Valerian Pinto, Parish Priest of Cordel Church, invoked God’s choicest blessings on the occasion and consecrated the foundation stone.

While laying the foundation stone Mr Nalin Kumar Kateel, congratulated the Parish Priest and parishioners for their vision of constructing a community hall for the benefit of the citizens in and around Vamanjoor.  Vamanjoor is a satellite city and is fast growing.  It is a hub for all round development – Educational, Social, Commercial, and Cultural.  Community hall was a need of the hour and it is a long cherished desire of the entire society.  He assured his wholehearted co-operation and wished well.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Ivan D’Souza, MLC, congratulated the organizers for gathering the congregation of all communities and for the wonderful arrangements made on the occasion.   He recalled the proverb “Well begun is half done” and he wished the construction work will be completed in a record time. He assured his support and wished well.

Mr. Mahabala Marla, Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, said that Mangalore City Corporation stands second in the state with regard to development and Vamanjoor stands 1st in the growth rate.  He stressed the need of a community hall in such a locality. He assured his wholehearted co-operation in procuring the required documents and promised to provide basic infrastructure facilities needed for the citizens of the locality.

Mr. Melvin D’Souza, Member of Zilla Parishat, Smt. Hemalatha R. Salian, Corporator, Thiruvailu Ward,  Rev. Fr. Ajith Menezes, Asst. Director, SJEC,Sr. Zeena, Provincial, SRA, Sr. Mariette, Provincial, Bethany, Mr. Roshan M. Kamath, Vice President, Mr. Joachim D’Souza, Secretary, Pastoral Council, Mr. Lawrence Cutinha, Mr. Richard Rodrigues,  contractor were present on the dais.

Among other dignitaries; Mr. M. P. Noronha, Advocate & Secretary, Diocesan Pastoral Council, Rev. Fr. Rohit D’Costa, Religious sisters, Members of Taluk Panchayath, and panchayath members’ from all communities, parishioners, were present.

Rev. Fr. Cyprian Pinto, Parish Priest, welcomed the dignitaries on the dais and off the dais.  He urged the elected representatives to support the cause and extend their wholehearted co-operation.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Roshan M. Kamath, the Vice President. Felix Saldanha compeered the programme.  With the melodious band, students of Vidya Jyothi High School welcomed the dignitaries.
