Mangalore, Aug 26: Prajaprabhutva Vedike president Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi rubbished the allegation against him by Hindu Jagarana Vedike state convener Jagadish Karanth of misappropriation of funds collected for the annual Sarvajanika Ganeshothsava celebrations held in Ujire during Ganesh Chathurthi.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on August 26 Tuesday, he said that Jagadish Karanth’s allegation was just to malign his reputation, since he was a fore runner in the movement demanding justice in Sowjanya rape and murder case.
Thimarodi also stated that, Karanth was angry over him, since Vedike did not ask his advice, when he launched movement demanding justice for Sowjanya.
He also said that, Samithi was organizing the Ganeshothsava celebrations from several years and it did not ask any member to produce its records of collection or expenditure for inspection. Moreover, Karanth has no morality to make such maligning statement over misuse of funds collected for the religious programme of the celebration.
He warned Karanth to stop making baseless allegations with the intention of maligning his reputation or his Vedike.
