Mangalore, August 14:On Wednesday August 13th, after a continuous brawl that lasted for nearly a month, and was going on between two major parties in the Mangalore City Corporation, the government issued an order reappointing Dr Ajith kumar Hegde Shanadi as the Commissioner of the of the Mangalore City Corporation.
Later, Prasanna proceeded on leave for a few days. Shanadi had already been deputed to Hyderabad for training. Behind-the-scene activities were witnessed, after groups favouring continuance of Shanadi and those opposing him indulged in a tussle. It is said that about 26 city corporators stood firm behind Shanadi and submitted a petition to the chief minister for his continuance and they had full support of minister, Ramanath Rai.
There are reports that, urban development minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake; led the other group which stood firm on his transfer. After push and pulls, the state government issued an order to retain Shanadi here. It has been gathered that Shanadi will take over charge as city corporation commissioner within a couple of days.
Mr H Prasanna who was appointed in his place from Kodagu has been transferred to Uttara Kannada District as the Additional Deputy Commissioner.
Since there were intermittent fights between the corporators and ministers, the commissioner Shanadi was transferred to the Finance Department of Bangalore by the government. Mr Prasanna had taken charge on July 16th morning, oral instructions were conveyed to the office of Dakishina Kannada district deputy commissioner by the chief minister’s office, asking him not to take over the post.
