Puttur, August 13,2014: Four women had visited a house in Pulittadi near Uppinangady of the taluk. They were handed over to the cops by villagers alleging that the visitors were forcing the family to transform into their religion.

The 4 women, said to be from Golittottu, had visited a family in the village which follows another religion.

Several villagers rushed to the spot, accused the women of trying to influence the family members for religious conversion and laid siege to the house. Then information was passed on to the cops.

Uppinangady police rushed to the spot and the women were taken into custody. Mr Suresh Atramajalu, a local panchayat member, accused the women of visiting several houses in Pulittadi, distributing pamphlets relating to their religion and trying to abet religious conversions. The names of accused are known to be Shirley, Mini, Leelamma and Shubha.

It said that the cops have released the women later, after getting bonds executed by them.
