Parking complex to come up at Hampankatta

Mangalore, Aug 04: The construction of multi-level car parking-cum-commercial complex  is being planned by the Council of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). it has been decided that the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) approves  and will  construct its own or through a public private partnership (PPP).

In council meeting, the proposal to build the car parking was given to the MUDA five years ago. Of the 215.50 cents land available in the old service bus stand at Hampankatta, the MCC owns 155 cents and the remaining 60.50 cents land belong to three private individuals. In a meeting held on August 7, 2012, it was decided to give built up area to the private individuals when the complex comes up.

Mayor Mahabala Marla said that now the corporation will ask a consultant  firm to prepare a blueprint of the proposed project. The matter will be discussed in the development committee of the civic body and proceeded with.

Three private individuals and the land they own:

The Diamond building owns 40 cents land, Dhanyavad building owns 14.50 cents, Baliga building owns 2 cents and Maruthi building owns 4 cents land.
