Mangalore, July 30: The 18th Independence Cup Football tournament was inaugurated by Mayor Mahabala Maarla at the Nehru Maidan here on July 30, Wednesday. The tournament is hosted by the DK District Football Association. The 17 day tournament will conclude on Independence Day and a total of 214 teams will compete for the Independence cup.
The DK Football Association honoured the Mayor on the occasion. Zilla Panchayat President Asha Timmappa Gowda was present as a chief guest.
DK Football Association President D.M. Aslam, Corporators Naveenchandra, Diwaker and several others were present on the occasion.
