DK District:  Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with bliss, greetings exchanged by young and old dressed up in new clothes

Mangalore, July 29: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with much joy and devotion across Dakshina Kannada and others districts on Tuesday July 29. Muslim brothers were seen offering the special Eid Namaz at Bajpe Juma Masjid, at the Idgah at Light House Hill, Noor Masjid and other religious places.

Eid means ‘Festivity’ and Fitr is ‘to break fast’, thus the celebration signifies the breaking of the fasting period in the month of Ramadan. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shaw’waal which is the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

People addressed each other conveying Eid greetings on the occasion of the most important festival of the Muslims. As part of festivities people will be visiting their friends and relatives to extend the greetings
