Mangalore, July 18: Indian President Dr. Pranab Mukherjee will land at Mangalore International Airport on Friday afternoon and move towards Kasaragod by road. Mangalore and Kasargod police are all set to welcome and provide security to the President.
Dr Mukharjee is expected to address the maiden convocation of the Central University of Kerala (CUK) on the permanent campus at Periye today. He will be received by Governor Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb besides university officials.
In the event of poor visibility owing to overcast skies, Dr. Mukherjee would reach the venue by road from Mangalore. Dr. Mukherjee would attend the nearly 90-minute convocation ceremony and confer honour on 567 students who had completed courses in six streams of the university in the last four years.
All necessary security measures have been made to facilitate a smooth journey from Mangalore Airport to Kasaragod for Dr Mukharjee, said Mangalore Police Commissionerate.
