Mangalore, Jul 9: A teenage girl committed suicide by jumping off the bridge into Phalguni River at Gurpur here on Wednesday July 9.
Mallika (16), daughter of Padmanna, a resident of Chilimbigudde, Gurpur is the deceased girl. She was the youngest among Padmanna’s four children.
Sources said that on Wednesday morning, she came by auto rickshaw to the bridge, and as soon as auto driver left, she jumped into the river. The reason for taking the extreme step is not yet known. Locals said that she had recently discontinued her studies.
The body was found floating in the river and was retrieved later. Bajpe police arrived at the spot and investigation is on.
