Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner A.B.Ibrahim chaired the RTA meeting held at the DC office on Tuesday, June 24.
Addressing the gathering he stated that every demand of the express and shuttle bus operators will be heard and will be resolved. The hiking of bus fares should not burden the commuters.
Mangalore-Udupi Express bus fares to be raised to Rs 59. Referring to the court order, he said in that case the fares will have to be hiked to Rs 65 which would be an increase by 20 per cent.
Hanumanth Kamath, Social activist and Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike Convenor filed objection to a hike in fares of express and shuttle buses.
RTO Afzal Ahmed Khan, SP Dr Sharanappa and other officials, representatives of bus operators and various organisations were present.
