Mangalore: Chandrahas Devadiga (58), a hotelier who used to feed his customers for just Rs 10, passed away following a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bolpugudde, Padavinangady, on Thursday, June 19. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
Hailing from Yedapadav, Chandrahas aka Chandrahasanna, used to run a hotel near Sri Mahalasa Narayani Venkatramana temple since 1977.
Chandrahas, who used to feed about 300 customers on a daily basis, charged as low as Rs 10 per meal. The price was even more reduced to just Rs. 5 for students.
“He, who reached home after closing his hotel at around 9.30pm on Thursday, breathed his last in his sleep,” claim sources.
An active RSS member, Chandrahas was a recipient of several awards and felicitations for his social services.
