Belthangady, Feb 26: State Minister for Higher Education RV Deshpande inaugurated new building of Centre for Post Graduation Studies at the SDM College, Ujire built at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore on February 25, Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that government aims to provide free college education to girls in government and private colleges from next academic year.
He also said that educational cost of female students in the aided colleges will be borne by the state government.
Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, presided over the event.
Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof. T. C. Shivashanker Murthy, Hemavathi V Heggade, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva, SDM College Principal Dr B Yashovarma were present.
