Kundapur: Burglary in Katkeri Shree Mahadevi Kalikamba temple; looted 113 pawns of God’s Gold worth Rs 35 lac

Kundapur; Feb 06: A case of massive theft of God’s Gold was reported in Katkeri’s Shree Mahadevi Kalikamba temple near Koteshwar in Kundapur taluk between Wednesday Feb 05 late night and Thursday Feb 06 early morning.

It was said that the thieves entered the Kalikamba temple on Wednesday late night by cutting the window rods at the back and stolen 113 pawns (909 gram) of Gold kept inside the cupboard by cutting the locker through gas cutter and cash of Rs 20,000 was also stolen, which was kept in the same cupboard. The value of the stolen gold was estimated to be Rs 35 lacs.The manner in which robbery was done seems to be by professional robbers.

Divakara P.M, Kundapur circle inspector, sub-inspector Jayarama D.Gowda visited the place. Finger print experts and canine squad also arrived to the place and conducted an investigation.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
