St Agnes College to host National Workshop on ‘Folk Dances of Tamilnadu’

Mangalore, Dec 28: The Cultural Association of St Agnes College to organize a UGC sponsored 4 day National level Workshop on ‘Folk Dances of Tamilnadu’ from Jan 3- Jan 6, 2014, said Dr M Prem D’Souza, principal of the college.

Addressing the press meet held at Press Club on Dec 28, Saturday, she said that the workshop will be held with the main aim to imbibe love and interest in the Indian Culture and folklore among the students from various colleges of our country.

She said that students from around 80 colleges across the country are expected to participate in this workshop.

Internationally renowned artistes Natyacharya Sr Ravi Sharma and Group from Chennai will expose the students to various forms of Tamilnadu Folk dances.

A renowned Bharathanatayam artiste and Karnataka Kala Thilaka awardee Dr Vasundhara Doraswamy will be the chief guest and inaugurate the workshop on Jan 3, 10 am. Dr Sr Lydia Fernandes, joint secretary of the college will preside over the event.

Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alvas Education Foundation, will be the chief guest for the valedictory function on Jan 6 at 3 pm.

Shubharekha, Apeksha Prabhu, Prashanthi Jain and Chaitra were present.
