Karkala; Dec 22: As legislator V.Sunil Kumar, who got excited for the attitude of the CMC engineers, finally CMC engineers got up from their deep slumber and started removing gravel from the road passing through Bhavani Mill junction on Dec 20, Friday.
On Feb 07, 2013, the road which passes through Bhavani Mill junction leading to the city was closed. The reason for this is, that road was not repaired. This was the problem of PWD department and CMC.The road which passes through Bhavani Mill junction falls under the jurisdiction of PWD.That was completely damaged during monsoon.PWD came forward to repair the said road. Since only soil was filled without raising the level of the road, which falls under the jurisdiction of CMC, while work was being carried out, environment has started getting polluted with red dust rising during vehicles movement. Besides water in the wells also started turning red color in the surrounding areas.
Frustrated citizens because of all these problems have come forward to stage a protest with the support of one political party. Then the traffic on this road was stopped as per the demands of the protestors.Gravels, which was donated by some likeminded donors for the repair of the road were put on the middle of the road. Even after that the question is, who will repair the road was continuing as usual.
It was on Dec 19, Thursday in trimonthly KDP meeting, legislator Sunil Kumar, directly attacked CMC engineers for not taking any action for the removal of gravel from the road even after several days have been passed after informing them over the phone by him. Besides he also said that already had a discussion with district commissioner in this regard and PWD is ready to carry out works, he added.
Though CMC engineers have woke up due to legislator’s admonition and started removing gravels but the remaining thousand million dollar question is, who will start the work?!!!
