Kasaragod,sep.15 : The general secretary of the Communist Party of India, A B Bardhan, was in town on Saturday, Sep 14 to inaugurate the party’s district council office named after Dr Subba Rao.
Bardhan declared the office open, while state executive member E Chandrashekharan presided over the function.
CPI state secretary Panyan Ramachandran, joint secretary C N Chandran, K K Kodoth and others spoke on the occasion.
Addressing the mediapersons, Bardhan dwelt upon various political subjects. Focusing on the prime ministerial aspirations of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, he termed it a sheer daydream.
He said that the PM’s seat was far beyond Modi’s reach. He stressed that Modi’s personality was the kind which created fissures in the society.
Pointing out that JD(U) leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar had realized it clearly and decided to quit the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the very reason of Modi’s leadership of the BJP.
Bardhan predicted that in the coming national elections, neither Congress nor the BJP would come to power. Only two parties, namely Shiv Sena and Shiromani Akali Dal, had remained as constituents in the NDA, out of the original total of 22 parties which constituted it.
Referring to the solar scam in the state, he accused the Kerala government of sabotaging the holding of a probe into it. Bardhan further said that a secular alliance of parties was sure to come to power in the next elections.
