Udipi;August 30: Addressing the gathering in ‘Konkani Aarogya Suraksha Card ‘distribution programme held at Don Bosco auditorium on August 30,Friday organized jointly by Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and Manipal University,Dr H S Ballal,Prof.Chancellor,Manipal said in his guest speech that today poor people should know the advantage of technology. If the shortage of money is there, we will not tell the patients to go to other hospitals.
He further said that he will try to increase from the present premium amount of Rs 30,000 to 50,000.
Continuing his speech he said that by paying just Rs 25 for an individual, we have been extending treatment up to Rs 30,000 but now even after remitting Rs 125 for an individual, the same Rs 30,000 treatment is being given and assured that he will try to increase the amount to Rs 50, 000, he added.
He also said that all kind of diseases have been covered in Aarogya Suraksha Scheme for the benefit of poor patients suffering from various diseases. Pregnancy and accidents are also covered in this project, he said.
Bishop Dr Jerold Isac Lobo, Dharmadhyaksha, Catholic dharmapranthya has inaugurated the programme and graced the occasion. He further added that today country is heading towards progress, super specialty hospitals are coming up. But common, poor people cannot enter into this sophisticated hospital. But through this ‘Aarogya Suraksha card’project even poor can enter into these hospitals and avail the required treatments.
