Mangaluru, September 11: Ramakrishna Math had organized ‘Prajna’- a symposium for college faculty Mangaladevi here on Friday September 11th.

Before the ceremony, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala paid floral respects to statue of Swami Vivekananda.

The ceremony was inaugurated by Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala.

Addressing the audience, Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala said, the future of our country lies in the hands of today’s generation. The present educational system teaches students to lead their life keeping in mind only of the future in mind. Education is waste without culture and tradition. Teach good values to children.  Today’s generation must leave behind their laziness and try to achieve wonders, he said.

Many people are involved in corruption and scams. Those who are involved in such deeds have no culture. Students should possess the thought of rendering help to the poor. All should live happily life, he said.

Speaking about the value of a teacher he said, even when any great personality meets his former teacher, he bows in respect.

Laying emphasis on the importance of educating girl child, he said, never underestimate women. If a boy is educated, it is equal to educating one person. If a girl child is educated then it is equal to educating a whole family.

Swami Jitakamanandaji, Nitte University chancellor Dr N Vinay Hegde also spoke on this occasion.

The guests were welcomed by MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik. Swami Sarvasthanandaji proposed the vote of thanks.

Prof K Byrappa, Justice Santosh Hegade and many others were also present on this occasion.
