Mangaluru Bar association to hold Advocates Conference on Sept 26th.

Mangaluru, September 10: The Mangaluru Bar association has organized conference of provincial advocates of five districts on September 26th at TMA Pai conventional hall here. At 10.30 am, Supreme Court Chief Justice H L Dattu will inaugurate the conference, informed the president of  Mangaluru Bar Association SP Chengappa.

Addressing a press meet in the city on Thursday, September 10th; Advocate Chengappa said, the conference will be presided over by Karnataka High Court Acting Chief Justice Subro Kamal Mukherjee, High Court justice A N Venugopal, State Law Minister T B Jayachandra, Advocate General Prof  Ravivarma Kumar and others will arrive at the function, he said.

In the conference High Court senior lawyers, Uday Holla, Sajan Poovaiah, senior lawyer at Kundapur A S N Hebbar will present talks on various subjects.

On the same day culmination program will take place at 5pm, in which Central Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, retired justice of High Court -H L Nagamohan Das, Additional Advocate General – A S Ponnanna, President of  Bar Council – P P Hegde, Former Vice –president B Ravindranath Rai, A L Bhojegowda, Bar association president- Shivaram and others will be participate. On this occasion demands will be placed to begin circuit Bench of the High Court in Mangaluru, informed SP Chengappa.

Mangalore Bar Association supports protest against the Yettinahole diversion project:

Due to the Netravati and Yettinahole river diversion, injustice is caused ot the DK district, Environment and the animals will get destructed, along with many other problems, the people of the district who depend on River Netravati for agriculture are facing famine already due to lack of rains and in case the project is implemented, the district may face drinking water problem, he said.

In this wake the central and state government will be urged to immediately drop the project which is against the interests of the people of DK district. If the concerned project is begun against the interests of the people, it would be inevitable that Mangaluru Bar Association will unite various organizations of the district and stage protest, said Chengappa.

Vice-president Yashodara Karkera, General Secretary Raghavendra H V, joint Secretary Suman Sharan, treasurer Yatish Kumar and others were present in the press meet.
