Brisk police investigation- Stolen jewellery valued Rs 48 lakhs recovered, couple arrested.

Mangaluru, September 4: A case related to theft of gold and diamond jewellery was cracked within three days after the police received the complaint.

Police arrested a couple and seized gold ornaments worth Rs 48 lakhs from their possession.

On August 31st, a complaint was filed regarding the theft by Shankari Rai, resident of Suvarna Lane, Kankanady here, with Pandeshwar police, alleging that gold and diamond ornaments worth over Rs 48 lakhs, had gone missing which she had placed in the box inside the dressing table in her bedroom. She had expressed doubt about the involvement of Parvati (28), a part time domestic help in the theft.

Inspector, Dinkar Shetty, who tried to contact Parvati and question her, learnt that she had vacated her rented home at Bajal in the city and moved away and that she had not given her proper address to the house owners.

Police gathered information about the whereabouts of the domestic help. They went to Nittuvalli in Davanagere taluk and arrested Parvati and her husband Puttaraju (42), who stayed in the house of a relative there. It is gathered that Puttaraju had was also involved in the theft. The couple were arrested on September 3rd, and the police confiscated the stolen items from them.

The police during investigations learnt that since the past five years, the couple had been working at different places in the city. They frequently used to change their workplaces as well as their residences once in three to four months.

Guided by city police commissioner, S Murugan, and DCP, K M Shantaraju this investigation was done.
