People’s representatives to be trained on the key health projects of govt: Minister Khader.

Mangaluru, August 5: The state government has decided to arrange a training program across the state for the people’s representatives from the Gram panchayats, Taluk panchayats and the Zilla panchayats about the key projects launched by the state government related to the deadly diseases and their treatment, informed Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader. 

Addressing a press meet at the circuit house in the city on Tuesday, August 5th Khader said; in connection to the deadly diseases and their expensive treatments, the health department has introduced Vajpayee Arogyashree scheme for BPL card holders, Rajiv Arogya Bhagya scheme for APL card holders and Jyothi Sanjeevini scheme for government employees. The first training related to providing information about this project will be held in Mangaluru, he informed. The project will be implemented through the super speciality hospitals registered under the Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust. The beneficiaries will be provided the treatment through such super speciality hospitals. The patient will be provided treatment completely penny free under the Vajpayee Arogyashree scheme, while under the Rajiv Arogya Bhagya scheme the government and the beneficiary  has to follow the payment in 70:30 format respectively, informed Minister Khader.

If the beneficiary wishes treatment in the special ward, it is sufficient if they pay only the 50% amount of the main package charge. The beneficiaries have to pay for rest of the package charges and charges for additional facilities provided by the hospitals. The beneficiaries can avail the benefits of these projects by showing the BPL or APL cards to the Arogya Mitra staffs employed by the government in the hospitals registered under this project, he said.

189 processes related to the treatment of cancer, 145 processes related cardiac treatment, 20 processes related to urology treatment will come under this project. Although the kidney transplantation or surgery does not come under this project, the procedure of removing the defunct kidney comes under this project. The polytrauma treatment which does not come under the cases of medical law will be available under this project, Minister explained.

Related to the vehicle accidents, insurance facility will be provided to the patient. But as the insurance amount will be given to the patient after a long time after taking the treatment, in order to provide immediate assistance to the patient, the government will pay the treatment amount initially. The government is planning a project such that, later through the FIR of the concerned case, the amount paid by the government towards the treatment charges of the concerned will be obtained through the treatment compensation amount of the patient provided from the court, said Minister Khader.

An inspection and administrative system at Bengaluru has also been set up to ensure that the government facilities are used appropriately, he said.

Hospitals providing various Health projects:

About 12 super speciality hospitals in Dakshina Kananda and Udupi district have registered with the Suvarna Arogya Trust.

In Mangaluru -AJ Hospital, Indiana Hospital, Yenepoya Medical College Hospital, KMC Hospital, Wenlock district Hospital, Mangaluru Cancer Hospital, KMC Hospital (New), Global Multi-Speciality Hospital, Father Muller’s Hospital, Justice K N Hegde Hospital, Yenepoya Speciality Hospital, Pragathi speciality Hospital, and in Udupi -Kasturba Hospital, and Adarsha Hospital; various Arogya Bhagya projects are available, informed Minister Khader.
