Minister Sorake hands over compensation to the family of deceased Akshata Devadiga, and Ratna Kottari.

Kundapur, July 28: Recently released compensation were handed over to the families of Ratna Kottari, student of Shiruru Pre-University college who died mysteriously in July last year and Akshata Devadiga, student of Government Pre-University in Byndoor; who was murdered recently.

District incharge minster Vinay Kumar Sorake handed over the compensation cheques of Rs 5 lakhs from the Education Department to the family of Akshata Devadiga and Rs 3 lakhs cheque to the family of Ratna Kottari from the chief minister’s relief fund.

Speaking on this occasion, Minister Sorake said, because of the special efforts put in by Byndoor MLA, the compensations were granted for the family of the deceased students. The compensation got delayed as there were no exact information about the death of Ratna Kottari. In view that the government compensation will get delayed, the compensation was granted from the Chief ministers relief fund, he said.

Ratna Kottari death case is still under progress. The concerned department has been clearly directed to take re-verification of the case. It has also been directed to take safety measures for the students who come from the rural areas and take immediate actions based on priority over the assault cases. The government has taken additional interest on the safety of the students, he said.

Presiding over the event MLA Gopal Poojary said, pertaining to the Ratna Kottary case, the police have not submitted the charge sheet whch became an obstacle in the norms of release of the compensation amount. I had assured the family of providing them the compensation of Rs 3 lakhs. I had also made the fact clear to the Kottari associations. During the Belagavi Sessions, I had requested the Chief Minister to grant compensation from the Chief Minster’s relief fund for which the Chief Minister had consented for the grant. Now that compensation amount has been handed over to the family. No one has forgotten the death case of Ratna Kottary, the exact reason of the death will be brought out, the investigations will progress, he said.

On this occasion, Zilla Panchayat Education standing committee president Gowri Devadiga, Taluk Panchayat member Raju Poojary, Savithri Alvegadde, Ramesh Ganiga, Gram  Panchayat president Dilshad Begum, vice president Nagesh Mogaveera, Thashildhar Gayathri Nayak, Byndoor Special Tahshildhar, president of the Kottari Sangha and others were present.

Shridevi of Shruru College compeered the program while Principal of the college M P Nayak proposed the vote of thanks.
