Mangaluru, July 28: A gang of rowdies who came by a car attacked two youths with sharp weapons and wounded them badly. The incident took place near Alake market in Kudroli here on the late evening on Monday July 27th. The attack is said to be a retaliation to an pre-existing rivalry.
Indrajit, resident of Bokapatna and Lathish, resident of Barke were allegedly attacked by a gang which came in a Maruti 800 car at around 7.17 pm while the duo victims were standing near Kudroli market. The gang attacked the youths with sharp weapons and speed away in the car.
The attacker’s team who are said to be in the rowdies list namely Nithin, Ravichandra alias Vickey alias Psycho Vickey and Mokshith all are from Mangaluru.
Indrajith has sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to A J hospital in the city. Latish’s arm has been badly injured and has been admitted to Alake nursing home.
Sources said that in a bid to escape, the assaulter’s collided their car into several other vehicles. From Kudroli, they attempted to escape through Mannagudda road. Meanwhile, when they reached Mannagudda, the car stopped due to some technical problem. They then stopped a youth riding his scooter, pushed him away and fled with his vehicle, it is gathered.
It is learnt that swords wrapped in cloth were recovered from the car the attackers left behind.
Although the case was initially lodged at Barke police station, it has been transferred to Kadri police station as the spot of crime falls under the Kadri police jurisdiction, informed a police official.
More details are yet to be ascertained after the investigations.
