Mangaluru, July 23: It is gathered that the Shiradi Ghat stretch repair works have been completed before time.
Now, the works of filling cement and soil to the edges of the concrete road are in progress. From August 1st on wards, the stretch is likely to be opened for the movement of light vehicles and the movement of heavy vehicles on this road will be allowed from August 15th onwards, but over an unpredicted range of time. Because, the tender process for the concretization of remaining 13 kms of stretch is pending, it is learnt.
Lack of time:
The road was not available for the time duration actually given to the contractors for undertaking the construction works. Although there was 18 months duration, the concerned were asked to finish the works in six months period as this is the main stretch which links Mangaluru with Hassan, Bngaluru, Tumakuru, Kolar and other places. So this stretch cannot be closed for a long period.
