Awareness program on Mangaluru City Police App for ‘Women’s Security’ held in the city.

Mangaluru, July 13: Awareness program on ‘Women’s safety’ pertaining to the Mangaluru City Police App, developed by City Police Department, was organized at Father Muller’s Medical College at Kankanady here.

The college association for prevention of Sexual Harassment on Women (Pash) in association with the city police department organized this event at the Knowledge Centre in the Decennial hall of the college.

Mangaluru City Police commissioner S Murugan participated as the chief guest on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Murugan said, through this mobile app the complaints will be accepted from the publics. Along with women, this app is beneficial for the children, elderly persons, and also in emergency situations, he said.

Edison Roy who cooperated to develop this app provided related information on this and said through their smart cell phones, the public’s can download this Mangaluru City Police App and use it appropriately.

In the downloaded app, a person is given provision to register 10 phone numbers of his close ones. In case of any emergency situation, the concerned especially the women must press this app five times or slowly shake the mobile and send message to their close ones seeking for help. With this, close ones can avoid danger taking the help of the police.

This app is handy in times when lonely elderly persons are at home or in case of heart attacks and any other emergency situations. In addition, information’s about the local police stations, traffic system, daily crime news, emergency numbers can be obtained easily from this app, he informed.

Director Fr Patric Rodrigus presiding over the program said, the police are getting close to the public’s through this app.

Administrator Fr Rudolf Ravi D’Souza, and Dean Dr JP Alva were present on the dais.

Dr Padmaja Udaya Kumar welcomed the gathering while Dr Aruna thanked.
