Mangaluru, July 6: Renowned across the globe, the Campco Industries in Dakshina Kannada, is all set to export arecanuts to China.
Announcing this in a press meet held in the city on July 6th, Campco president Konkody Padmanabha said, the Campco has already conducted second round talks with China based Kyo Wei Vang (King of Taste) company.
In the preliminary stage, 32 thousand quintal processed tender arecanuts will be exported. A team of three delegates from China have already arrived here to train on the processing techniques. This team will train Campco employees in Puttur and Shimogga on processing methods.
Mouth freshner’s prepared from tender arecanuts by the Kyo Wei Vang company has a great demand in China. This company tops in China, explained Konkody Padmanabha.
Such ten companies are producing mouth freshners in Hunan area of China. In China a total of 12,200 metric tonnes of arecanuts are produced. This production is too less when compared to the demand, he said.
If initial stage business succeeds, then bulk quantity processed arecanuts would be exported, informed Konkody Padmanabha.
