“Mother Theresa Road” name plate inaugurated.

Mangaluru, July 6: The Falnir road in the city which was renamed as Mother Theresa Road about 12 years ago, the official inauguration of name plate of the stretch as “Mother Theresa Road” took place on Sunday, July 6th.

C Bernadatte, superior of Missionaries of Charity institutions Mangaluru Convent inaugurated the name plate o the road.

Fr Vaelrean  D’Souza, priest of Milagre’s Church and Fr Michael Santhumayur Principal of Milagre’s College blessed the occasion.

Speaking on this occasion, Mayor Jacintha Alfred said, the stretch is named after Mother Theresa in order to remember her service rendered to the society.

Corporators Naveen R D’Souza, A C Vinayraj, Former vice Mayor Judith Mascarenhas, Forewinds advertising company director E Fernandes, Chief Secretary of court ward development associtation Sunil Kumar Bajal were the chief guests.

Vice president of Milagres Church Ivan D’Souza, Secretary Savil Mascrenhas were present. Former Vice president Alwin Rozario, welcomed the gathering and C Bernadatte thanked. Moli D’Souza compeered the program.

The Falnir stretch which links Kankanady to Hampankatta was named as Mother Theresa Road in 2003 after it was decided in a meeting at the Mangalore City Corporation. But the road name plate was not erected. On June 23rd-2015, court ward development association had staged a protest near Milagres Church, led by Sunil Kumar Bajal. Due to these efforts, this name plate on the stretch was installed.
