He was running this shop from the past five to six years in the first floor of Kotilengeshwara Towers. Suresh Poojary closed the shop for the day on Wednesday night. But when he came to open the shop on Thursday morning, he noticed that the shutter of the shop was half open. On inspection, he came to know about the theft and informed the police.

It is said, Suresh who always used to carry almost all the mobiles from the shop while closing the shop in night, had left the mobiles in the shop since the past fifteen days as it was rainy season.

The thieves have broken both the locks of the shutter and gained entry to the shop. They have taken all the new mobiles from the shop. Over 60 mobiles have been burgled worth Rs 4.5 lakhs, it is learnt.

The police suspect there might be the involvement of a wide network of thieves as series of thefts had taken place in Udupi and Karkala since the past two days. The thieves are making the best use of rainy season for their operations. Even a year ago, burglary had taken place at a Mobile shop and Jewellery shop in Koteshwar.

As the burglary took place close to the National Highway-66, it has left the people in anxiety.

Kundapur  DySP Manjunath Shetty, Circle inspector Diwakar, S I Nassir Hussain and others visited the spot and inspected. Canine squad and fingerprint experts were brought to thespot.

A case has been registered at Kundapur police station and investigations are on.
