Mangaluru, June 24: A protest was held by the CPI (M) at Milagres Church on Monday, June 22nd alleging that although the Falnir road was named as Mother Teresa road 12 years ago, the Mangaluru City Corporation has failed to erect name boards in the area.

Secretary, Sunil Kumar Bajal addressing the protesters said, 12 years have elapsed since the Falnir road has been named as Mother Theresa Road. The MCC has not yet mentioned the name of the road as Mother Theresa Road to the public so we have taken a protest today.

In a general meeting held on 24/12/2003, the MCC had accepted the decision of naming the stretch which connects Kankanady to Hampankatta as Mother Theresa Road. Later the state government had also consented for this. But yet this has not been enforced.

The protesters demanded that MCC should immediately place the name board for the road and give due respect to Mother Theresa.

In the protest, Yogish Kumar, Fr. Veleriyan D’Souza, Fr Francis D’Almeida, Santhosh Sanyasigudde, Rambhat, Yogish Jeppinamugeru, Vasudev Uchil and others were present.
