Mangaluru, June 24: Mangaluru CCB police have arrested two youths from near Vamanjoor who were plotting to murder and rob an entrepreneur.
The arrested are identified as Pavan Raj Shetty (18), resident of Amruthnagar in Vamanjoor and Kumar TM alias Sooryakumar alias Suri (34) from Gurunagar in Jappinamogaru.
The accused with an intension to murder an entrepreneur were moving with weapons on a bike near St Josephs Engineering college in Vamanjoor here. On the basis of particular information, the police raided the spot and arrested the accused.
Police have seized a Yamaha bike, three machetes, a knife, 250gms ganja, and a mobile from the possession of the accused.
Among the accused, Pavan Raj Shetty is the son of rowdy sheeter Rohidas Shetty alias Vamanjoor Rohi who was murdered in 2009. It is said that Pavan Raj Shetty has been nurturing enmity against the suspects accused of eliminating his father, said the police.
A case stands registered against Pavan Raj at Mangaluru rural police station in an attempt to murder Santhosh Kottary in 2014, police said.
Against Kumar TM alias Sooryakumar alias Suri, murder case is registered at Barke polic e station, attempt to murder case is registered at Mangaluru rural police station, and case against possession of illegal weapons is registered at Mangaluru south police station. A case against illegal sale of ganja is also registered against him in Coast Guard police station, informed the police.
Directed by Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan, guided by DCP(law and order) KM Shantaraju, led by CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza, PSI Shyam Sunder and other police personnel carried the operation.
