Accused in 28 theft cases arrested from Tamilnadu.

Bantwal, June 11: A person wanted in 28 theft cases was successfully arrested  from the neighbouring state by the Bantwal cops.

The arrested man is Balasubramaniyan.

The accused and his accomplice Murugan was engaged in several robbery in the district and also in the neighbouring districts. The  duo used to steal only jewellery, it is learnt.
In 2010, the the-then circle inspector of Bantwal, Nunjundegowda had arrested Balasubramaniyan and jewellery worth Rs 24 lakhs were confiscated from him later.

The accused had managed to secure bail from the court and did not appear to the court thereafter. Later a warrant was also issued against him.

Bantwal police personnel, Suresh and Lokesh got information that Balasubramaniyan lived in Tamil Nadu. After a search operation, Bantwal police arrested the accused from Tenkapadelenali chathra in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu.

Accused Balasubramaniyan is facing 7 cases in Bantwal rural police station, 5 cases in Bantwal town police station, 1 case in Belthangady police station, 2 cases in Badiyadka police station, 1 case in Udupi police station, 3 cases in Puttur rural police station, 5 cases Vittal police station, 2 cases in Uppinangadi police station and 2 cases in Bajpe police station.

The accused was produced in the court on Wednesday, June 10th and was later remanded to judicial custody.
