Mangaluru, June 10: DYFI staged a protest near BASF here on Wednesday, June 9th over the bad conditions of road in the area which connects Suratkal to Kaikamba.
The protesters blocked the road and protested for about half an hour.
The DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla said huge potholes have appeared on the road in the area which falls under the Bala Panchayat Jurisdiction. The vehicles will get stuck while moving through these potholes. In addition, many accidents have taken place here, he alleged.
This problem has aroused due to the movement of vehicles to MRPL. As there is a heavy traffic flow daily on this road, the concerned had been requested to get the road repaired as soon as possible. The people’s representatives have not yet addressed to this problem, he said.
He warned that, if the problem is not addressed, severe protest will be held in future.
MCC Engineer Abdul Khader along with MCC commissioner visited the spot and inspected. They said the repair works will be begun on the same day itself.
Shreenath Katipalla of DYFI, B M Imthiyaz, Santhosh Bajal and others were present.
