Bantwal, May 7: A man who reportedly shared obscene and abusive Facebook posts, using the photos of a minor girl from Vittal, was arrested by Vittal cops. The accused was later released on conditional bail.
Based on particular information that the accused Baklakrishnaraj Neerchal had arrived to participate in a wedding at Mani Peraje, the cops took him to custody. He was later released after getting a bond executed, as per conditions of which he has agreed to be present at the police station as and when necessary and also to cooperate with investigations, under section 169 of Criminal Procedure Code.
It is said that a person named Shantaram Hegadekatte, who currently lives in Nigeria, reportedly has been stealing the photos of girls and women found in the Facebook, and posting them in a group formed by him, and was in the habit of obscene and abusive comments about these pictures. These posts were routinely shared by Balakrishnaraj Neerchal who added his own abusive comments, it is said.
After finding that in one such post, a photo of a girl from Vital had been used in a similar way, the girl’s father had filed a complaint along with evidences in Vittal Police Station on April 13th.
As per the directions of Bantwal circle inspector, Belliappa, Vital station house officer, Prakash Devadiga, along with police personnel’s Rakshith, Chidananda went to Bengaluru and tried to find trace Balakrishnaraj. Although the team raided his office, Balakrishnaraj had escaped successfully. To arrest him the policemen were readying for another visit to Bengaluru.
On May 5th the accused had arrived to a wedding scheduled in a hall at Mani Peraje. On obtaining the information that the accused was present there, at around 12 midnight, Vital station house officer, Prakash Devadiga, along with a team of policemen raided the spot and took the accused into custody and brought him to Vittal police station. Later, the policemen released him after getting a conditional bail.
