Mangaluru, March 21: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the musical fountain was organized on Saturday March 21st at old Deer Park in Kadri. Apart from the musical fountain, new quarters for special police force will also be constructed here.
The foundation stone were laid by urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake and district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai for both of these projects.
Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, the Karnataka state government is focussing on enhancing tourism in the state. Potential for tourism is more in the coastal area hence we will develop Mangaluru into a tourist destination in future.
District incharge minister Ramanath Rai said, compared to other cities, Mangaluru lacks open space and parks. Two more parks will rise up soon in Bantwal. We are concentrating on making Manglauru a beautiful and clean city.
J R Lobo said in his presidential address that, in a span of six months, the musical fountain will be completed and tenders for the same will be invited through the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which will take some time, later in four months, the installation works of fountain will be finished. He thanked Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, for approving the proposal and sanctioning funds soon for Kadri Park development society.

The project, which is estimated at a cost of Rs 4.97 crore, is expected to be completed by November-2015.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, minister for health and family welfare U T Khadar, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Mohiuddin Bava, MCC commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, mayor Jacintha Alfred, deputy mayor Purushottam, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino, MUDA commissioner Mohammed Nazeer, CREDAI president Pushparaj Jain, and other dignitaries were also present among others on this occasion.
