S Murugan, the New police commissioner emphasizes to maintain peace and harmony.

Mangaluru, January 2: The newly appointed police commissioner of Mangaluru city S Murugan, has assumed his office at Mangaluru on Friday January 1st.

Previous police commissioner R Hitendra, handed over the charge to Murugan. R Hitendra has been transferred to the IGP headquarters in Bengaluru.

Murugan, speaking to reporters said, in the past, I had worked here. So I know about the situation here and I know the people of Mangaluru want to live in peace. I need some time to study the current situation here after which actions will be taken as per law. All are aware that this place is communally sensitive. We will take unbiased steps as per law.

Murugan also stressed on the responsibility of cops in maintaining law and order and said, it is the duty of cops to curb communal activities and maintain law and order.

Murugan said, as police, we do our duties diligently and go home with a feeling of satisfaction believing that we have given a good service.
