Mangalore, may 21: It has been witnessed on May 21,Tuesday that how the people have gone mad and emotionally attached towards newly elected MLA -JR Lobo, who in turn thanked all the voters for their overwhelming support in his victory.
Dr Paul D’souza on behalf of diocese of Mangalore at Bishop House honored JR Lobo on May 21, in recognition of his victory in the recently concluded state assembly elections.
After honoring Lobo Dr Aloysius said Lobo’s victory mainly attributed to the support of all the people and expressed his happiness over the victory of their desired candidate JR Lobo in the recently held state assembly elections and said that’ that what people were expecting for the need of the hour’.
After receiving the honour at Bishop House, the congress supporters and members organized “Vijayotsava” at City’s Nehru Maidan and Lobo was taken in procession by the supporters, party workers in an open jeep from Nehru Maidan via Jyothi circle-Balmata-Kadri shivabagh-Nanthoor-Bikarnakatta-Kalpane- and concluded at Kulshekar Church grounds. Chende sets, fireworks,Dollu Kunitha, Kalladka dolls, Nasik bands, tiger dance, Yakshagana and other folk arts added flavor to the grand procession.
“Vijayotsava” was organized to express Lobo’s gratitude/thanks giving to the people of Mangalore south constituency for their overall support during state assembly elections and said that the credit of this victory must go to the people of the constituency.
“J R Lobo is known for his hard work and has immense experience as an administrator. His courage and determination in retiring from government service and getting into politics is indeed praiseworthy. May the city witness much more developments during his stint as MLA.
“Everyone wanted a change this time, as people were attacked several times earlier. His victory is not because of just one community, but it is because of the support from people of all communities. With this victory my responsibility has increased,” added Lobo, assuring that he will work towards the development of the constituency.
While speaking to the media reporters he said that four ministers from the coastal region work unitedly and in tandem for the welfare of the people regardless of their caste,religion,creed and language and sought the support and co-operation from the general public.
A large number of people, including leaders, supporters, party workers and well-wishers including around 150 to 200 vehicles took part in the procession.
Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidar Hegde, Ivan D’Souza, Praveenchandra Alva, Ashith Pereira, Milaz Attavar, all the Congress corportaors, Mohan Mendon, T K Sudhir, Denis D’Silva and many others were present.
