Mangaluru, December 27: A person has been arrested by the cops on the charges of cattle trafficking on Thursday December 25th from Millat Nagar, Ullal-out skirts of Mangaluru.
The accused has been identified as Muhammed Saleem alias Siri Saleem alias Ullal Saleem, son of Ibrahim.
On December 1st, a Maruti Alto car was found fallen into a roadside drain near the paper mill in Karinje village here. The occupants of the car had fled immediately after the accident, but a cow and deadly weapons were traced inside the car.
Police inspector, Ananta Padmanabha, registered a case after recovering the cow, as well as sword, sickle, knife etc kept below the car seat.
A special investigation team was formed guided by city police commissioner, R Hitendra, and assistant commissioner of police, Ravikumar.
The accused, after the arrest reportedly confessed to have stolen a car from Goa on November 4th along with Farooque, Tamim, and other two. Muhammed has revealed to the cops that this stolen car was used to pick a cow that was grazing grass at Kodangal near Moodbidri on December 1st, said the cops.
The accused Muhammed Saleem is also facing cases relating to murder, ganja trafficking, murder attempt, and illegal cattle trafficking and robbery in relation to the past offences, revealed the cops.
