Kasargod, December 26: An LPG tanker toppled on national highway at Star Nagara in Bevinje, Kasargod district at night on Thursday December 25th, as a result, its diesel tank burst out due to which diesel spilled out all over the road.
It is learnt that the LPG tanker was plying from Mangaluru to Kannur when the accident occurred. The area was alarmed and vehicle movement on the stretch was halted.
Anxious about leakage of gas from the fallen tanker, which may lead to deadly accidents, people living in nearby areas were vacated to safer places. Fire engines and personnel rushed to the spot immediately, and got engaged in taking precautions to avert mishaps.
An expert crew from Hindustan Petroleum had arrived on the spot and taken steps to pump the gas to another tanker and release the remaining gas into the air as per the demands of the circumstances.
The officials by Friday morning December 26th confirmed that there is no gas leakage.
