Mangaluru, December 3: A memorial will be built in memory of those who expired in plane crash tragedy which took place at Mangaluru International Airport on May 22nd– 2010. This memorial will be built at the area in between Kulur Bridge and Thannirubhavi.
The district administrator AB Ibrahim chaired a meeting at his office on Wednesday, December 3rd and arrived at this important decision.
He said, this memorial will be structured in 43 cents land, under the collaboration of Karnataka government, Air India, Airports authority and NMPT and the maintenance responsibility will be handed over to the Mangaluru City Corporation.
It was decided to build the memorial close to the flight departure runway. But there was a request from the family of those who expired in the accident and few others stating that, the memorial close to the airways departure would remind them of the tragic incident. Hence it was decided not to build the memorial there.
