New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has crossed the 10 million mark in terms of number of followers on the popular social media platform Twitter.
PM Modi is the second most followed politician on Twitter, only behind US President Barack Obama. Besides, he is also the third most followed world leader behind Mr Obama and the Pope.
“Our PM Modi has reached 10 million followers on Twitter,” the micro-blogging site said in a statement Wednesday.
The site added that his election victory tweet was the most retweeted tweet in India in 2014.
Twitter said that in a series of firsts, Modi is the first Prime Minister in the world to use Twitter Mirror and the first politician to make a video tweet.
PM Modi made his Twitter debut in January 2009.
PM Modi, an active social media user, has a fan base of more than 27 million on the world’s largest social networking platform Facebook.
