Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, KCR meet a hush hush affair

Hyderabad: During a hush-hush visit to the city, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on Sunday met Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his camp office in Begumpet.The courtesy visit was kept a closely guarded secret and the media was not informed. CMO officials too remained tight-lipped on the issue.

Officials did not even allow anyone to take snaps of the meeting. Mr Nadella, who was a student of the HPS, is the son of a former state bureaucrat.

He landed at the Begumpet airport in the city on Sunday. This was his first visit to the city after he assumed charge as CEO of the global IT giant. A highly-placed source confirmed, “His meeting with the CM was kept a secret following Mr Nadella’s request.”

CMO sources revealed that the meeting between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao lasted for about half-an-hour. Mr Nadella is expected to leave the city on Monday.

“He paid a courtesy visit to KCR at around 5 pm. They discussed about the IT sector in Telangana in general and Hyderabad in particular. They also spoke about making Hyderabad a smart-city. KCR sought the cooperation of Microsoft for making Telangana the top IT destination of the country. KCR briefed him about the various initiatives being taken by the Telangana government for the development of the IT sector in the state,” sources said.

Mr Nadella is expected to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, in a day or two, but the meeting is yet to be confirmed. He is also expected to address employees of Microsoft India Development Centre at Gachibowli on Monday.
