The Sharjah Police have busted a gang of four Afghanis who specialised in stealing from shops in different emirates. The police have recovered Dh140,000 the gang allegedly stole from a shop recently.
The police said the gang would break open doors of shops in commercial areas and steal money from safes. After receiving several complaints of such thefts, a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was formed to investigate. The police zeroed in on one of the suspects due to his criminal record and arrested him. He reportedly confessed to carrying out the thefts and led the police to the three other suspects in Ajman. The tools they used to commit the crime have been recovered from the flat.
The suspects reportedly rented cars to carry out the thefts, the police said. Colonel Ibrahim Misbah, acting Director of the CID, said three of the suspects have criminal records. “One of the suspects managed to infiltrate into the country after he was deported from the UAE,” said Col Misbah.
