Mumbai: Director Anthony D’Souza and the team at Balaji Telefilms are in a tight spot as no actress is keen to play Sangeeta Bijlani in the Azharuddin biopic.
First Kareena Kapoor walked out because she allegedly wasn’t confident about the way her role would shape up in the film, then actress Kriti Sanon politely declined citing “date issues”.
When contacted, Kriti refused to comment. She said, “I only talk about films that I have signed.” So now the makers are waiting for Jacqueline Fernandez to get back to them.
The reason behind actresses showing no interest in this role according to the grapevine is because they allegedly are wary about Anthony D’Souza’s ability to do justice to them and pull off a hit.
The director’s last three films, which include the Sanjay Dutt-Lara Dutta starrer Blue, have bombed at the box-office. Actresses are, thus, scared that he might botch their role.
When contacted, Anthony denied approaching both Kriti and Jacqueline. So who is he signing for the role? To this the director said he was busy at the moment and would talk later.
